What to expect
Luang Prabang
Last night we arrived in Luang Prabang and we were blown away. The old town has such quaint houses influenced by the French colonial times. Additionally, you can find many temples amongst them.
Let’s do what we do best
After breakfast we rented a scooter (as everywhere in Asia) and explored the surroundings.
Luang Prabang (literally meaning “Royal Buddha Image”) is a city in north central Laos. It consists of 58 […] villages, of which 33 comprise the UNESCO Town Of Luang PrabangWorld Heritage Site. It was listed in 1995 for unique and “remarkably” well preserved architectural, religious and cultural heritage.”

Have ice cream at Laos Buffalo Dairy
Firstly, we stopped at a little ice cream shop where the ice cream is entirely out of buffalo milk.
Laos Buffalo Dairy is a socially responsible, sustainable farm, and social enterprise. [Their] aim is to improve the rural prosperity, welfare, nutrition, and health of the local population, with a focus on buffalo farming and childhood nutrition.”

Visit Kuang Si Waterfall
Then we stopped at our main goal for the day: the Kuang Si Waterfall.
In order to get to the waterfall, you first park your scooter, then hop onto a golf cart and finally walk past a Bear Rescue Center.
The waterfall itself consists of many layers which all have different natural swimming pools and smaller waterfalls. Consequently, it is probably one of the most stunning waterfalls I have ever seen.
Only the waterfalls in North Bali may compete.
Eat at the night market
Lastly, we stopped at the night market for a tasty dinner. Pad Lao for me and a curry for Blake and roti pancakes for dessert only cost us 2€ each.
All in all Laos has definitely been the cheapest country on our world trip yet.
