…from Jana’s perspective
As you can already see in the picture above with his Dad, Blake loves one thing a lot (probably even more than me 😉): Sports!
Loves his sports (all of them!)
It’s not just one particular sport with Blake. In fact, it’s ice hockey (the Flames), CFL (the Stampeders), AFL (the 49ers), Baseball (Yankees) and soccer (Manchester United and BVB). The fact that I know all of this is actually quite sad. But it also goes to show how much he loves his sports. I even own a few shirts of each of his teams by now. (How happy I always am to receive those as Christmas gifts ;-)). But this shouldn’t be about me, this is about Blake.
Great friend
Blake is the most caring guy I know. He values all of his friendships a lot and he puts a lot of effort into maintaining those friendships. For several weddings he’s flown to Hawaii and Mexico just to be there for his friends. And the list of things he does for his friends goes on and on. I’m honestly so grateful to be not just his girlfriend, but also his best friend (yes, I’m aware of how cheesy this sounds ;-)).
He’s also an amazing communicator which I have never seen in a guy before. We always talk openly and honestly about everything. With his kind words he somehow always manages to make you feel valued.
Family person
Besides being a great friend, Blake is also a great son, brother and uncle for his sister’s kids. I think during the 1.5 years in Germany, the hardest thing for Blake was to be away from his family. He takes family to a whole new level and he tries to be there for his family and their needs all the time. Even from Germany he helped out as much as he could when his family needed help.
Loves to travel
Another thing Blake is very passionate about is traveling. Traveling together (and also having met in Australia while traveling) is one of the biggest passions we both share. We both love to see new places, get to know new cultures, meet new people, try new foods and widen our horizons while traveling. Blake is the perfect travel partner to me!
Loves to party (even at 35!)
There is one other thing besides watching sports and traveling that Blake loves (almost) as much: and this is partying! Being very outgoing and happy to be surrounded by people and good energy, Blake still loves a good party (even at the age of 35; in those moments he likes to forget that his hangovers have only gotten worse over the years…).
And: he makes me laugh. No matter what mood I am in, he always manages to cheer me up. I love our banter, our inside jokes and that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. (How often do I have to roll my eyes when looking at his insta stories or goofy videos?) I guess he also taught me not to take myself too seriously all the time and to always enjoy life!
My “Lieblingsmensch”
Of course, this is just a very small description of Blake. Blake is definitely my “Lieblingsmensch” (favourite person) and he just makes life happier and more fun for everyone! 😊
